When you Need to Fix the Garage Door |

Are you a homeowner that has a garage? You might not know this but on average a residential garage door is opened around 1500 times a year. This is a lot of wear and tear on the system. There are some signs when the garage door needs to be fixed or replaced. Residential garage door repairs need to be done frequently and when the door is not operating correctly. One obvious factor is when the garage door won't open or close. There are three problems that can be occurring if the door will not open or close. The first is the cables that drive the door up or down are worn out or broken. The second thing it could be is the remote to open the door is dead or has a malfunction. The last thing it could be is that the opener has a striped gear.Another thing to look for to make sure your garage door is functioning properly is to check to make sure the garage door isn't making any weird noises. Sometimes it can be difficult to determine where the noise is coming from. Call a professional because the sound of the noise can determine what is wrong. For example if the door is making a popping noise then most likely the sections are not coming together properly. One thing that is obvious is when the door comes of its tracks. The rollers on the garage is what helps keep the system operating smoothly. When the rollers begin to jump the track is dangerous and needs repair. Some causes to why the rollers came off the track are trauma to the door such as a vehicle running into the door. The horizontal tracks don't match with the vertical rails. Sometimes the rollers break due to wear and tear. Lastly one of the lift cables could be broken. The fourth thing that could be wrong is that your garage could be out of balance. This repair isn't done right away. Sometimes the spring can become more worn down than the other. When one of the springs breaks it will make the other spring do extra work and cause the door to look out of balance. Some signs when the door is out of balance are if the garage door looks like it's sagging, or if the door doesn't close evenly. If both these things aren't occurring and you still believe the door is out of balance try this. Turn off the whole system and open and close the door manually. When doing this it will show at what sections the door is going up unevenly. The fifth thing that can be wrong with the garage door is it has a slow response time. When the door takes a few extra seconds too open try this before calling a professional. Lubricating the rollers and tracks. If this doesn't resolve the problem there is a more serious issue and a professional is needed. When being a homeowner there are many responsibilities to keep working at home. When the garage door is not functioning there could be a handful of problems. These problems sometimes need professional repairmen. Having a non working garage door is quite the headache and going through these five signs will help resolve the problem. As soon as you know it the garage door will be opening and closing with ease. Sometimes the repairs can be costly but having an operating garage door is very important in maintaining a safe household. Residential garage door repairs don't always have to be stressful.
