How To Get The Most Protection For Your Property |

It is extremely important to protect your home and there are many ways to do it and all of them are surprisingly simple. I have had a long career when it comes to protecting my home so I have some expert advice to give you. I've had careers in landscaping, painting and most recently carpentry. I had training from people who have been in the fields for 20+ years so I do a lot of my own DIY projects.
Protect Your Home's Exterior In order to keep your house looking great over the years, make sure it has high-quality paint. Higher qualities might cost more, but you don't have to paint your house as often as you would with cheaper paints. High quality paints actually have longer lasting life spans, between 10 and 20 years. I recently painted my parents house a few years ago and it still looks good. You should also power wash your house every year, it helps protect your home from dirt and other little nature problems. Take my parents house. It was never properly taken care of and as a result the siding looks terrible. It has massive holes from those pesky little woodpeckers, bees and we have seen various insect problems, all of which could have easily been avoided if we had been power washing the house all these years. If you're a gardener, keep your plants away from your siding unless they are low growing plants like Daffodils or Tulips. Taller bushes leaning against your home encourages insects to crawl into your upper walls and burrow inside because of your tasty wood. Make sure it is at least 1.5 feet away from your home or more. This will also help make it easier for you to power wash and paint those areas which you'd otherwise neglect to do because of those thorny bushes. Spray your exterior with special anti-ant and insect sprays. This should be done before spring comes around the corner to help discourage ants from getting into your home and periodically throughout the summer. You don't want ants crawling up your leg in the middle of the night. Spraying around the bottom of your house, windows, driveway and sidewalks will discourage insects from getting too close and kills any which might already be nested. While I haven't had any experience with security kits a DIY Home Security kit might be appropriate for your home, especially if you live in a neighborhood with a crime spree. Getting one of these could help prevent robberies and financial losses down the road. Your home will probably be the most expensive thing you'll ever buy in your life. Treat it like it's your own castle!
If you have a deck or a porch, make sure it gets painted once a year. Unlike your home, decks and porches tend to get the most problems with insects. Adding fresh paint will help discourage insects from chewing away at it and will keep your deck from rotting away from moisture or mold. Some deck paints or stains even have special chemicals which prevents rain from being absorbed into the wood. Fresh paint also helps with your decks structural integrity, preventing the wood from splintering and cracking. These actually make it more likely for your deck to fall apart and when this happens you will have to buy new wood to replace the old one. Painting once a year is cheaper than fixing every single board which falls apart. You should also replace your deck screws every year for the same reason. Nails can get rusty and then break apart if left in there for years on end. Keep your deck from falling apart by replacing the nails every couple of years. Keep grass low around your house by mowing or weedwhackjng throughout the season. Believe it or not, poorly kept yards decreases the value of your home.
