I know swimsuit season is in full bloom, but keeping weight in check knows no season. This info was excerpted from my friends at Vitacost.
Let the countdown begin!
1. Adopt a lifestyle not a diet. This isn't a short term fix, so don't treat it that way. If I told you ice cream was permanently verboten, guess what you'd crave and consume? Balance and sensible choices. Go the distance. 2. Organization Structure and schedule - might sound odd, but like no noshing at night, or when you're watching that reality show. 3. Portion control Your stomach is the size of a fist. A fist. Keep that in mind when you super-size your food. Try eating off sandwich plates, not dinner plates and it'll seem like more. 4. Leave food on your plate. Did you get the memo - The Clean Plate Club has disbanded. [Your mother was wrong.] If you're full, STOP EATING. 5. Make it a ceremony. Do you eat at your desk? In the car? Start setting a nice place, light a candle, play music, even if you're alone. So what...you don't deserve to be treated? Nonsense. Hate seeing people in airports cramming in food on the run, or at a counter, standing up. 6. Slow down Chew, people. A new concept. You ought to try it! It takes time for the brain to feel full, before it tells the stomach - enough, already. 7. Enjoy your food. Eating is not punishment. If you don't like broccoli, don't eat it! There's a lot of options, so find what's healthy, sure, but find what you enjoy, too. No wonder "diets" fail so much. We hate what we eat, then we "cheat". 8. Move it Exercise keeps blood pumping, muscles strong, energy flowing and everything working. 9. Drink Water, silly. We often think we're hungry but we're really dehydrated. Pump in the water and see if that curbs the craving. 10. Sleep Your metabolism improves when you sleep. That means calories burning! [Naps count.]
To your New Now,
