On December 5th, 2022 Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced a call for proposals to help Internationally Educated Healthcare Professionals (IEHPs) work in Canada’s healthcare sector.
IRCC has presented a project proposal to the federal government that explores the opportunity for Health Workers in Canada. Minister Fraser announced an investment of $90 million through this program.
The lack of available staff in hospitals has led to some having to temporarily close their emergency rooms or reduce other services.
5 NOC codes have been updated in NOC 2021 Version 1.0 which are as follows.
- 33100 Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants
- 33101 Medical laboratory assistants and related technical occupations
- 33102 Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
- 33103 Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants
- 33109 Other assisting occupations in support of health services
