Surgeries are the procedures performed by surgeons who perform a treatment by opening with the help of medication, instruments and specially trained doctors to get rid of the ailment. This intervention is usually seen as a last resort when all else fails such oral medication, intravenous drugs usage or application of medication doesn’t help. There are two kinds of surgeries the invasive and non-invasive kind. The invasive kind will require cutting open a place in the body and doing the needful procedures and sewing up or stapling of the wound of the patient. The non-invasive consists of angioplasty, endoscopy etc. which is through an already existing opening in the body. The basis of a surgery - An elective surgery is not usually the non-threatening ones such as the tonsillitis surgery. - The semi elective surgery is to do to save the patient from permanent disability or death like a gangrenous foot being amputated. - Exploratory surgery is done to find out the kind of ailment which cannot be found out by external factors like finding a new kind of growth which seems hidden otherwise in the body. - Cosmetic surgery is something done to make changes in the way the body looks such change in the shape of the nose. - Reconstructive and replantation surgeries are done when the patient has a patient has injured or mutilated or not properly formed body part that has to be made again, in the later the severed limb may re-joined if possible. - Transplant surgeries are done when you replace a diseased or non-functioning organ or body part with the help from a donor. There are so many other kinds of surgeries and there are specialists who deal with a body part or organ system. And now newer techniques are being involved - Which will save the surgery time - Loss of blood - Quick recovery - No need rehabilitation - Lowering the cost of surgical procedures - Use limited medication - Smaller incisions.
There are procedures that are followed before an operation takes place. The patient is going through a thorough medical examination to determine the blood group, allergies, history, medication he/ she is on. The patient is prepped and taken to the surgery room with required medication to get off the pain and consciousness. It depends on the surgery if it is a minor surgery, there are times when the patient is conscious, and procedure takes place with a local anaesthesia or the general one for the major operations. There may be numerous surgical techniques employed to tackle the problem. The surgery is done correspondence with the other doctors who keep checking the vitals of the patients and impact on other organs when the procedure is going along with the bleeding of the patient. After the procedure when all is done, and the patient is stitched up and ready to be shifted out of the surgery room, the patient will be unconscious and is monitored for several hours to check if there are post-surgical complications. There always a post-operative care that must be taken undertaken to ensure that the patient recovers without any further problems.
