7 Fitness Tips to Carry with You |

Whether you’re just starting out, or you’re an avid fitness goer with years of experience behind your back, everyone at some point tends to fall off. While some fall harder than others, here a few things you can do to keep yourself from plummeting too far. 1. Stay ConsistentNo matter how much you hope to retain your motivation day in and day out, it will eventually dwindle. Everything from being tired, lack of time, too much work, the list goes on. Instead of reaching deep down inside for inspiration and motivation, instead, just suck it up and DO IT! If you treat exercise as a habit, you’ll find it much more difficult to stray too far off schedule if it’s become a natural part of your weekly routine. If you want to lose weight fast, build muscle, or tone up, you need to make it part of your regimen. 2. Avoid the “I messed up one meal, so let’s mess up the whole day” mentalityThis is honestly the worst approach you can take with reaching your fitness goals. This not only screws up an entire day, but is usually followed by a few days, sometimes even weeks of this horrible approach to get back on track. Try to minimize your mistakes, and QUICKLY recover from them. 3. Don’t Beat Yourself UpAs much as you want to believe you’ll never fall victim to making mistakes, it’s unfortunately (or fortunately) part of life. This doesn’t just relate to health and fitness; this relates to all things in life. Accept that you made mistakes, stop giving yourself a hard time, and move on! 4. Avoid trying to make up “fall off days”This all ties back to what was discussed previously. While you may have messed up a day of eating and exercise, do not try to equal it out by exercising vigorously with hours of cardio and fat calories burning exercises. Instead, accept the failed day, and move on. Treat the next day as you would any other typical day, get back on track, but don’t overdo it. 5. Don’t Let Fitness Consume YouYou see it all the time. While maintaining your health and fitness is an important part of a balanced lifestyle, it shouldn’t be the only focus! While this is more typically seen in athletes and fitness models, it does happen to some. If you find yourself cutting yourself off from social life and family, please reevaluate your priorities. Too much focus on physical health can eventually lead to a decline in mental health. Life is all about balance, find a happy medium. 6. Do What You EnjoyIf you have a specific exercise you favor over others, then make sure to incorporate that as much as possible. Not everyone likes the same things, so it’s important you find what works for you. The most effective workout is the one you actually follow through with. 7. Allow Yourself a Cheat MealWhat is life without a little enjoyment. Have a drink, enjoy a scoop of ice cream, and have that slice of cake every once in a while. As long as you leave it as an occasional reward, you will not hinder your fitness goals.
