This is drawn from the understanding that such a person may be facing some major problem or challenge and does not know what to do about it. He would most likely resolve to use drugs in order to shift his attention from such issues.
This relates to emotional controls that drive someone to do something. It is a common feature to find people doing things involuntarily. Such traits could be a factor to drug abuse. This is because one might not realize that whatever they are doing is bad. Most people who abuse drugs or substance cannot explain their action since they are guided by deep emotions. They would never develop the required discipline to stop these habits. Their logical thinking is thwarted and cannot help themselves either.
Developing negative views about other people or the world could also be a huge factor that enhances drug abuse. Low self-esteem is a huge problem among the youth and even much older people. These people feel that they are not worthy and therefore resort to abusing drugs as a way out of such problems. People who demonstrate such traits can easily be helped if they visit a counselor.
