Acne usually manifests as comedones (blackheads or blackheads), pimples or cysts on the face, back and chest. It is a skin infection caused by changes in the sebaceous glands, which causes the clogging and inflammation of the pores of the skin. This results in superficial rashes. Acne is more common in teenagers, but anyone can suffer from acne, including babies. It usually goes away after adolescence. However, acne can affect some individuals as adults. In general, people have the tendency to squeeze these pimples to make them disappear, but often this causes the condition to worsen resulting in scarring. Acne not only affects the face, but also affects the mood of the people, as it gives rise to negative thoughts about self-esteem and can even cause depression. Acne treatment is designed to prevent the formation of new lesions and help cure existing ones. Dermatologists may prescribe topical agents or oral medications to treat acne, however, there are home treatments that can be very effective and without side effects. Here are the top 10 home remedies for acne:Baking sodaSodium bicarbonate or baking soda acts as a gentle exfoliant for the skin. Therefore, it unlocks pores and removes dead cells. It also helps to regulate the skin's pH imbalance and has mild anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. All these features make it an excellent home remedy for acne cleansing. You can mix two tablespoons of baking soda, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, half a lemon juice, and five tablespoons of honey. Apply to face and wash after 5 minutes. You can also prepare a pasta with one or two teaspoons of baking soda and a little water. Again, rinse after five minutes. These treatments can be applied a couple of times a week. Papaya / MilkPapaya is an essential ingredient in a lot of beauty products. Papaya is a completely natural acne remedy that removes dead cells and excess lipids from the surface of the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Lipids are a general term for describing fats. Papaya also contains an enzyme called papain, which reduces inflammation and helps prevent the formation of pus. Rinse face with water and dry. Shred the pulp of the papaya, until it is of a consistency that can be applied easily to the skin. Leave on for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. If your skin tends to dry, use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type, after using this mask. Cider vinegarApple cider vinegar is a source of power when it comes to acne. First, it eliminates the bacteria that can be causing all the problems and also balances the pH of the skin, which in turn makes it more difficult for the bacteria to proliferate. To top it off, it is a good astringent that will help remove excess fat. Taking this into account, it can not be overused as it could dry the skin too much causing the sebaceous glands to over-produce lipids to compensate, and thus trigger an outbreak of acne. Wash your face with water and pat dry. Mix in a ratio of 1: 3, vinegar and water. Wet a cotton with this liquid and apply directly to the lesions. Leave on for at least 10 minutes or overnight. Reapply several times a day, thoroughly washing face after each application. Be sure to use a good moisturizer when you finish this treatment. Lemon juiceLemon juice can help for a number of reasons. It is rich in vitamin C, which is good for all skin types, and is a citric acid, so it helps to "exfoliate" the skin. The most important thing though, is that it is a good astringent. An astringent will cause tissue contraction causing the lesions to dry. It also serves as a skin bleach and helps reduce redness. You should wash your face thoroughly before being exposed to the sun, as it can cause sensitivity and irritation. Rub a slice of lemon over the affected area and leave it for a few hours; Then rinse your face thoroughly with water. You can also mix the lemon juice with natural rose water in equal amounts and use the solution to wash the affected areas. Essential oil of tea tree (Melalueca artenifolia)Tea tree essential oil is not like the fat that the skin naturally produces; it is rather like a solvent that passes through the sebum and dead cells and unlocks the pores. Its antibacterial properties also help eliminate the bacteria that cause acne and prevent future outbreaks. This oil, unlike the vast majority of essential oils, can be applied directly to the skin without the need to dilute it before use. Simply apply one drop of tea tree oil to the affected area three times a day. Orange peelAcne is caused by bacteria, excess sebum and dead cells that clog the pores of the skin. Acne can be improved with the use of an orange face mask, thanks to vitamin C, citric acid and its astringent properties. Vitamin C is particularly useful as it promotes the growth of new healthy cells and keeps the skin in good condition. Put the orange peels in the sun and let them dry completely. Grind them (you can use a blender, mortar, or any other method that does the job) and add some water to create a paste. Once it has the proper consistency, apply it to the entire face or problem areas. Wait 20 to 25 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with water. Finally, apply a moisturizer. Green TeaThere have been some very promising recent studies (2011, 2012, Journal of Investigative Dermatology) which shows that green tea can have a noticeable impact on acne when used externally. Internally, there is the theory that it also helps, but more concrete evidence is needed. To briefly summarize the results, there is an antioxidant in green tea called epigallocatechin-3-gallate or EGCG. EGCG has been shown to reduce the production of sebum, inflammation and growth of bacteria in the skin - basically the main causes behind acne outbreaks. Put 2 teaspoons of loose tea leaves or 1 bag of green tea into a clean bowl and pour 1 cup of boiling water. Let stand for 4-5 minutes before brewing and allow the liquid to cool to a comfortable temperature. You can then pour it into a spray bottle and spray the face, or soak a cotton pad and apply over problematic areas. Banana peelBananas are full of all kinds of goodness, even those parts that we do not usually eat. Their shells contain lutein, a potent antioxidant that reduces swelling and inflammation and stimulates healthy cell growth. So rubbing a banana peel on the face can reduce acne and discomfort. Peel the banana and eat it! Take the peel and rub, with circular movements, all over the face. When you have covered the entire face, allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes before rinsing. Honey and cinnamonHoney is sticky and cinnamon is spicy; Two things that most people would avoid putting on the skin. Surprisingly, and although it may seem strange, honey and cinnamon make (literally) a killer combo when it comes to acne. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties, which can help prevent the proliferation of bacteria from getting out of hand. On the other hand, honey is a natural antibiotic, which can help to deflate the skin reddened by pimples and pimples. Mix well 2 tablespoons honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until it has formed homogenous paste. Apply on face or other problem areas and leave on for 10-15 minutes. As this is a fairly sticky mixture, it is a good idea to do this treatment before taking a shower. It will be easier to remove the mask while bathing. Honey and milk (or yogurt)While it is true that there has been some confusion as to whether dairy products cause acne, applied topically can improve acne breakouts and skin tone. The reason is that it soothes irritated skin and helps to reduce redness. You can also use yogurt. The acids it contains are antibacterial, while the fat provides moisture, making it very nutritious for the skin. Let the yogurt or milk reach room temperature. Mix 1 tablespoon milk or yogurt with 1 tablespoon honey. You can apply the mixture with a cotton pad or with a thick brush. Allow each layer to dry before adding a new one, until the mask has the desired thickness. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash your face and use a small towel to rub gently and with circular movements to get rid of the dead cards. Once you are done, moisturize your skin as usual. Latest recommendationsAcne is not caused by lack of hygiene. What's more, over-washing or cleaning with soaps or strong chemicals can actually irritate the skin and make the acne get worse. Excess facial cleansing can dry out the skin, which then tries to compensate for dryness by producing much more sebum. A simple cleaning to get rid of excess fat and dead cells is all that is needed. With regard to treatments, be patient. The desperate need to find a quick fix for acne, preferably something that takes a minimum of effort, is very strong, but like many other aspects of life, there is no single solution with immediate effect. You can also checkout my curology review post for acne treatment.
