Guitar Strumming Tips Posted: December 9, 2020 @ 12:43 am |
Most guitar students feel a void when looking for information to learn to strum. And it's true, there is not much information. Strumming is taught by oral transmission. That is, no written method can save you. The best thing is the explanation and the example, movement by movement, of someone who teaches you. Strumming the guitar or making rhythms by hand is a subject in which many beginners have doubts. Therefore, in Gooroo Courses, we want to present you with some tips and tricks so that you can do it correctly by practicing this Strumming - How to Play Guitar Lesson 1. Even so, I'm going to give you some advice that can help you. 1. The right hand should move from the wrist, with little articulation, relaxed, without hitting the guitar. 2. Whatever the rhythm you do, some movements go upwards (against gravity) and others, downwards (in favor of gravity). Those that go down you should control them since they tend to get out of hand and leave the hand out of position to continue playing. 3. Don't strum all the time on the six strings. Leave the beginnings of each measure for the bass; It doesn't matter how many strings but strums them over the lowest strings. The rest of the beats alternate between the middle part (strings 4, 3, 2) and the high part (strings 3, 2, 1). you will see that the result will be a more professional sound. 4. Don't strum at the same volume or color throughout the song. Try to adapt the accompaniment to the climates that the song is going through. Experiment with strumming over the mouth or near the bridge. You will notice different nuances. Vary the volume and shades of color throughout a song for a much more musical accompaniment. The last piece of advice I give has to do with how to play pick strums. With the pick, we will apply the same ideas mentioned previously. The important thing is the correct grip of it to attack downwards either with fingers together or apart. Also, when playing with the pick, you should not create a 90% angle to the top of the guitar. The angle should be tighter. On the other hand, when you play with the pick as instructed, the pick strokes will most likely coincide with the fingers, but this should not be a problem.
