Ice cream is a frozen food usually made from dairy products, such as milk and cream and often combined with fruits or other ingredients and flavours. Most varieties contain sugar, although some are made with other sweeteners. In some cases, artificial flavour and colour are used in addition orinstead of the natural ingredients. The mixture of chosen ingredients is stirred slowly while cooling, in order to incorporate air and to prevent large ice crystals from forming. The result is a smoothly textured semi-solid foam that is malleable and can be scooped.
I know that ice cream is a huge favourite for lots of people, especially children. So before you think that it's just a bit of sugar, so it can't be that bad for yourself or your children, read on.
The nutrient component of the ice cream depends on the type of ice cream as well as the ingredients that are used in the manufacture of ice cream. On an average, the ice cream contains three times more fat and slightly more protein than that is present in milk. It is a rich source of calcium, phosphorous and other minerals important for bodybuilding.
It is also rich in lactose and good quality protein especially the amino acids tryptophane and lysine, which are generally lacking in other common foods. Ice cream is an excellent source of food energy because of rich fat content and sugar which will help in improving body weight. It is a good source of vitamin A, thiamine, niacin and vitamin E. Fruit ice creams are excellent source of vitamin C.
