5 Life-Changing Fashion Tips Every Lazy Girl Needs to Know |
Posted: December 5, 2017 |
Let's face it, being a girl today is much harder than it used to be. We have careers, classes, and all manner of social obligations, not to mention we have to keep up with contemporary trends and styles in our workplaces and everyday lives. Staying on top of trends can be difficult for normal human beings who, I don't know, walk places, we're looking at you, stilettos. Fortunately, there's a new brand of girl (some call us lazy) that prides comfort, efficiency, and an extra twenty minutes of sleep. If you too find yourself snoozing your alarm more than twice in the morning or with zero time to lay out an outfit (seriously, who does that?) then read on. We strongly believe that you don't have to sacrifice time and comfort for style. Call us lazy if you like, but we've compiled this list of five fashion hacks to help our fellow lazy girls. 1. Build a Uniform If you don't already have a work or class uniform, build one. This is not to say that you wear the same thing every day, but rather that you basically wear the same thing every day, in a way that no one will really notice. For example: always a skirt, blouse, and jacket with other interchangeable accessories. It's a good idea to invest in a few staple pieces like trouser pants or a pencil skirt, and build endless combinations around them. Keep your clothes in a similar color range, if you're really lazy, buy all neutrals and never worry about mismatching. 2. Wrinkles Be Gone You should invest in some wrinkle resistant fabrics like velvet and denim, but we like to take this a step further. You don't have to limit your closet to certain materials if you just invest in a good wrinkle spray. This means you can get away with forgetting your clothes in the dryer or wearing them more than once without ironing if you are armed with a few bottles of Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Just spray any clothing down and hang it up or shake it out and you're ready to run out the door. 3. One More Piece Many fashionistas live by the one more piece rule. It means get dressed in the basics of your outfit, top, bottom, and shoes, and always add one more piece. Whether it's a sweater, scarf, statement necklace, or, our personal favorite, a cool denim jacket like the Harvey jacket from lularoe. Denim jackets are definitely a lazy girl staple in cases like these, you can wear them all the time and no one will know the difference. 4. Oversized is In Chunky sweaters, boyfriend jeans, and joggers galore. The good news is, oversized items are easy to find, easy to style, and oh-so-in. Not only has it become socially acceptable to dress up your joggers, but you can look awesome doing it. For most, the rule of contrasts is a good one to follow, if you have an oversized piece on top, choose a well fitting bottom, and vice versa. 5. Minimal Makeup Hertrack says minimal makeup looks are in, good news for lazy girls everywhere. Forget your full face of makeup and invest instead in some really good skincare products and a light coverage BB cream. Get an dewy, five-minute face with a light coverage BB cream, a highlighter, mascara, and a bit of moisturizing lip balm. Don't forget to moisturize your skin before applying makeup and use a light cleanser to take it off. So next time you find yourself in a rush, which you inevitably will, don't sweat it. Armed with these fashion hacks, we guarantee you can cut your getting ready time in half without sacrificing an ounce of style. Clean out your closet, invest in a few pieces, practice your new fresh skin makeup look, and prepare to prioritize the other important things in life. Like Netflix. And sleeping.
