There's only a month left until BTS's free concert in Busan, but the show is still having problems. The BTS: Yet to Come in Busan concert will take place on October 15 at Busan Asiad Main Stadium and is part of the city's efforts to host the World Expo in 2030. The concert is free. fees and is expected to attract around 100,000 fans.
However, the concert faced three major obstacles and it was not clear if it could be overcome.
1. The new location cannot accommodate 100,000 people. The original venue chosen for the concert was a makeshift beachfront stage in the city's Gijang District. But the location is too far from the city's main gateways, such as Busan Station and Gimhae International Airport, and it will take fans more than eight hours to reach the venue. The venue was changed to the more accessible Busan Asiad Main Stadium, which has 53,769 seats and 72 entry points.
BTS held their 5th Muster Magic Shop concert at this same venue in June 2019, where a crowd of 45,000 turned out.
The ambition to attract 100,000 fans is no longer possible with this new location. At maximum, it can hold 50,000 fans. Of this total, invitees from the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) member countries to vote for the World Expo host countries would need to be factored, the initial estimate being 3,500, subject to discussions with HYBE.
2. The number of Busan hotel rooms has skyrocketed. Room rates for a one-night stay in Busan ??? range from 300,000 won (approximately $215) to 2.00 million (approximately $1,440). Usually, they will cost only 50,000 won (about 35.90 USD) to 150,000 won (about 108 USD). Fans who want to book early have complained about this, but the Busan Government can only provide guidance on room rates. At most, this would be statutory, not enforceable.
3. May cause ?????-19 infections to increase. During the 4-day Chuseok holiday, the number of new patients in Busan ??? fluctuated around 1,500 people and increased to 3,200 people. Health authorities must consider whether the BTS concert could cause a significant increase in ?????-19 cases. “We plan to discuss public health measures with HYBE as soon as the number of foreigners, including the number of invited guests, is confirmed,” a city official said. "After planning the concert, we will consult extensively with experts and seek cooperation from relevant organizations such as the airport if necessary."
