Are you looking for a job after serving our country? The Department of Defense (DoD) offers several opportunities for veterans who want to continue their service. The DoD has over 800,000 employees, providing a wide range of positions from military to civilian.
Civilian jobs for veterans are becoming increasingly important because of the high unemployment rate among former service members. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for veterans was 4.6% in 2017. This number has steadily increased since 2010.
There are two main civilian jobs for veterans: federal government jobs and non-federal government jobs. Federal government jobs include positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the DoD, and other agencies under the umbrella of the US Government.
