Technology is very popular in media in the 21st century it is being used by be everyone around the world especially students being said, online education can be an advantage to students because it is familiar to the younger audience today. Even though there are advantages and disadvantages to online education, online education can be useful in many ways, and Madera Community College should increase their online education. Better learningThere are different ways that students learn and obtain their learning, for example some students are better with face to face learning, some students are better with group learning or partner learning, and some students are better learning on their own. Depending on the way students learn they are are able to figure out if online education is for them or not. Online education can be beneficial to those who are parents and are encouraged to go back to school or simply to just continue their education after high school and are unable to go to a traditional school on an everyday bases due to nurturing their children and having to go to work to gain a living. Online schooling can be an option for those who face mental health issues such as anxiety or depression, and going to a traditional school can worsen their issues, for example an expert from StudyDriver.com states that “more than 11% of college students have had been diagnosed or treated by a professional for a mental health condition.” By having the option to do online courses can be a benefit to them since they get to stay home where they are more comfortable and not stress. Online education can also be an option for those who are sick and unable to go to a public school to be isolated to keep away from getting worse. For example, those who have cancer and are not able to go to a traditional school at least have the option for online school, and they will still be getting their education. Traditional schoolAttending traditional school like Madera Community College and having to attend school from Monday-Friday can be stressful for many students that work or do sports, traditional college is not for everyone which is why Madera Community College should increase their education to online as well. Traditional school puts too much stress on students and can cause students to face anxiety and depression, there has been statics that claim “more than 40% of college students have felt more than an average amount of stress within the past 12 months” informed by Chadron State College. Professors that teach at a traditional school go at a pace that they believe is good enough for all their students, but yet they do not realize that every student learns at a different pace causing students to fail or stress. If a student fails a class they are mostly likely to quit or give up. Some professors are known to not teach at all or might make their class take notes and expect them to write quickly enough to get all their notes down, setting them up to not know what they are learning, and it is also proven from Chadron State College that “45 students have also claimed that they feel hopeless.” There is also an extreme amount of bullying in public schools, something you are able to avoid with online school. Online educationAs mentioned before, there are various of advantages and disadvantages to online education. Online education can be cheaper than going to a community, university, state, private, or trade school, author Sonya Krakoff claims that “in general, online learning is a more affordable option, as you’ll get a highly equality education at a much lower cost.” One of the advantages is being able to work at your own pace, meaning you can finish school in less time if you are a fast learner, and have self-discipline. Students are also able to study on their own time and can finish their work quicker. Doing online studying can give students more time to do hobbies and more hours to work since they do not have to travel to attend school or be in a class for 1-2 hours for different courses. Online school also give students the opportunity to learn what they want and offer many different class courses to explore their interest. Some students are better at expressing themselves in writing instead of verbally. Students can work with students around the world not just classroom and school with an online class. With online education, do not need to worry about discrimination, immigration problem, and there is also less drama. All these advantages provide students with less stress. Cheat on examsSome negatives of online education can be that a student does not have self-discipline, themselves, if a student does not have self-discipline, they are setting themselves up to fail or finish school late. Students can cheat on exams easily since there will be no professor around to see the student while testing, that indicates students can pass an exam without really knowing what he/she knows. Isolation is a major problem for online students since they are learning from a computer screen and not interacting with other classmates or professor. Getting an education online can be difficult for those who are not good at learning on their own and need human interaction to get a better understanding. Another problem can be that students have to wait for a response on a question if they decided to do their work at night, if a student with attending a traditional school and have a question they are able to ask in person. Another disadvantage can be going to a college like Madera Community, a student would need to find a ride their and back, meaning they will be wasting gas going back and forth. Some students may not have a ride and would need to pay for a ride to school such as a taxi, uber, lyft, bus, or car pooling. ConclusionThere are statics that Kim P inform that “57% of students enrolled in college are not done after six years, of that 57%, 33% of them drop out entirely. After the first year of college “28% drop out before sophomore year.” from failing classes, the percentage of dropout can decrease if they do online schooling, instead of going to a traditional school.
