The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is the 7ths year of higher education. It is the year after high school graduation of students. It is aimed at providing students with preparation and support before they move to theInternational Baccalaureate and is a transition year. The following main subjects are the focus of MYP.
The main aim is to ensure that the students are ready for the advanced sciences that are coming ahead.
Language acquisition focuses on the second language skills that a student can acquire. Students can choose either Spanish or French as these are the most commonly used secondary languages in the world Most Students are already taking these languages from the early years and now take up advanced levels. The IB program needs second language training that is highly advanced. That is why this course is necessary.
Language and Literature:
The course focuses on English language and its literature. It is mainly a continuation of high school courses and IB literature is advanced. It prepares the students for the subject that will grow and become more advanced with passing time.
Individuals and Societies:
This is an overview subject that focuses on geography, history, and R.E. The subjects are taught in an inclusive overview to prepare students for higher and more complex courses that the higher classes will include.
Sciences:
The sciences can include chemistry, biology, and physics as higher and more complex concepts. The main aim is to ensure that the students are ready for the advanced sciences that are coming ahead. The subjects are taught on the previous performance of the students. The students take the courses to improve their grades and also become better prepared for higher examinations.
Mathematics:
Mathematics on an advanced level is also taught in this year. The student will find that advanced mathematics contains statistics, advanced integration, differentiation, and other complex concepts. They make students eligible for a higher course.
Arts:
The arts course can be chosen between arts, music, drama, and dance to the liking of the students. The students will find that taking these courses will round off their progress and make them more ready for the year ahead.
Physical and health education:
The course also has physical health courses that allow students to develop better and healthier lifestyles.
It’s a transitory year to even out any issues that students may have had in their high school and prepare them for the year ahead.
