The Mahabharata is a long and complicated work of art and literature. It is made up of 18 big books that are both stories and settings to think. The Mahabharata is an important book for understanding Indic culture. It has affected sculpture, painting, music, writing, drama, and dance all over Asia. It is also a sophisticated and thorough study of the human situation. This certificate program teaches the text of the Sanskrit epic and how to translate it in a structured way. It was made for people who want to learn more about Indic culture. It connects what people know about the characters and events in the epic to what they can learn about the text's literary and philosophical project. Insights into rituals, images, literature, and art history add to the psychological understanding of the tale. The goal is to take the student on a journey of discovery through not only one of the great works of world literature, but also the epic's literary structure and deep intellectual rigor. This will give the student many ways to learn about culture and themselves. The Mahabharata diploma program is based on the idea of global humanities, which are different not only because they have a wide range of courses but also because they question the Eurocentric ideas of "canon" from the 1800s. They want to learn about world cultures as real, grown-up practices that keep going on their own terms. So, we will read the writings of the Indic tradition from a literary, religious, and philosophical point of view instead of the dominant ethnological or historical point of view, which has made the non-Western and non-Christian world seem like things and not like people. Mahabharata training program This can be taken as a certificate program on its own. Students who want to move on to the MA and Ph.D. Program in Hindu Studies at the HUA – Hindu University of America can use credits from this program. How the program is put together The certificate program is made up of six courses that last for one quarter each. These courses cover the important parts of the epic. Each course will talk about the epic's philosophical, historical, and literary problems, as well as how it affects people today. classes can be taken in any order, but Mahabharata I must be taken first because all other classes require it. Who the Program Is for There is no need to know anything about the story before taking this class, but it is helpful to know some general ideas about Hinduism. The certificate program is for everyone: college and graduate students, people who want to keep learning, and people who work in areas like science, technology, or the arts. In this class, students will learn about scholarly research on the epic and the flaws with this research. Its goal is not "research," though, but rather knowledge and psychological clarity. So, we will be mostly interested in questions about methods, stories, ethics, environment, and keeping traditional knowledge alive. We will also try to figure out if and how this can help improve people's lives right now. Special attention will be paid to the lessons of self-improvement and service to the community in the Mahabharata's Bhagavad gitaand throughout the rest of the tale.
