If you have walked down the high street then you will not be surprised to hear that tights are making a comeback in today’s fashion. As pop stars and celebrities used patterned tights and tattoo tights to make a statement it was inevitable that this trend would cross over into the mainstream.
If you are about to follow this trend then it is essential in today’s financial climate to know how to make tights last longer and it doesn’t matter if it is a pair of cheap fashion tights or an expensive high quality pair of branded tights, the same principals apply.
Practical Tips for Making Tights Last Longer
Putting on Tights
Okay so you may say that this is crazy to cover in this article but you may be surprised at just how many accidents can happen at this stage of your tights life. These simple steps will ensure those accidents do not happen and this is especially important if you have just purchased tights from a high-priced brand.
Assuming you are not wearing footless tights start by rolling up one leg and gently insert your toes into the toe part of the tights. Carefully pull the tights over the heel and repeat on the other side.
Once both feet are in the tights gently pull one leg at a time over the knee.
Once the tights are above the knee in a slow motion pull both sides of the tights together until they reach the crotch area.
Finally bring the tights over the buttock and hips but be careful here not to pull and stretch the fabric too much.
It is important to pick the correct size of tights during the purchasing process and this is especially important if you are purchasing a brand new to you. Each brand will have a sizing chart for you to look at and if you should fall between sizes always choose the larger option so that the lingerie is not stretched causing additional wear and tear.
Hosiery gloves are an option you may choose if you wear premium brands of tights. These are also an excellent buy if you have long nails or jewellery on your fingers that may snag the tights. There is a difference in quality though so choose a premium brand like Wolford and read the reviews of previous consumers.
