How To Keep Employees Inspired To Do Their Best Consistently |

Keeping your employees happy so that they give you their best work is a top priority for any HR Manager. Of course while it is assumed that since the company is paying for the employees work, they should be doing good work. However, it is still the responsibility of the company that they do their job in creating an environment that catalyzes the employee to feel inspired to do great work on a consistent basis. All too often when a new employee is hired they tend to be on their best behavior for the first few months. However, it is quite known within HR circles that once the new hire becomes comfortable, their work output can dwindle a bit once they become settled. Here are four simple steps you can use to help keep your employees energized: 1. Give Them Purpose We all need a purpose or mission. It is what drives us to feel alive. When your employee feels that they are part of something that gives their role meaning, they are more driven to want to work harder because their job has more meaning. It’s important that your employees wake up each day feeling as if they are part of something that they can be proud of. We all want to feel good about the work we do so that it feels as if our life has meaning. So make sure that you give your team a sense of pride in the work they are doing and let them know that they are part of something that will make a positive difference in the world or in people’s lives. 2. Invest In Them If we are not growing, then we become stagnant which is why it is critical that you continue to invest in your employees education and personal growth. As Tony Robbins would say, “Progress is what makes you feel alive” which is why it’s important that you provide your employees the opportunity to learn and grow. While some jobs may have plenty of room to move ahead, others may not. But this does not mean that your employee can’t be expanding themselves in some way. Whether you get them access to a members area online, take them to seminars, or provide them some form of coaching, its important that your employees see that you care about them and that you help them become their best self by investing in them. 3. Incentivize With Perks Of course, what employee doesn’t like a little extra money? However, it’s not money that is the only way to incentivize your team. Sometimes it can be things that bring them joy in other ways such as extra days off or nice meals. By becoming creative with how you incentivize your team, it shows them that you are taking the time to learn about who they are and what they really want. It provides a personal touch that shows them you care about them. This is no different than the boyfriend who goes out of his way to make a special gift for his girlfriend to show her that he is paying attention to her special needs. 4. Provide Weekly Motivation At my office, we start each week off by reading quotes about inspiration to help set the tone and mood for that week. We all take turns sharing our thoughts about what this quote means to us and how it makes us feel. I truly believe that by doing this it helps ignite and motivate our team to focus on what is important and to attack the work that needs to get done.
