Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) opened lower and throughout the day traded below breakeven line before a research report to be published on Thursday saying investors were misjudged the risks associated with Citigroup Inc.’s drive into faster-growing emerging markets.
Gimme Credit, which is a fixed-income research company based in New York, said it predicts credit provided by the third-largest U.S. bank by assets to perform less well over the coming six months as compared to bonds issued by the company’s peers. The report comes along with investor concerns that once-thriving developing economies like Brazil and Chine are facing a slowdown.
