Choosing an Ideal Garden Hose Reel |
Posted: April 11, 2017 |
Any sensible home owner knows that letting the garden hose lie unkempt on the ground is a bad idea. Not only is this practice unsightly but also compromises the quality of the garden hose. Even ones that are designed to last for years of use will get leaks or cracks sooner than their advertised years of service. It doesn't take much to keep garden hoses organized. All it really takes is rolling them up on a garden hose reel when not in use. Admittedly however, it's not that easy to choose the right garden hose reel that's as reliable as the expensive, high-quality garden hose.
Choosing the type of garden hose reel to buy is the first thing to do even before checking the store. Going to the store immediately is going to be overwhelming especially if the home owner has practically zero idea on different types of garden hose reels. Here are the different types of garden hose reels that home owners could choose depending on which one they prefer or matches their garden's needs. 1. Stationary The most basic type of garden hose reel is the stationary reel. Typically, a hand crank is attached to it in order to roll up the entire length of the hose when not in use. The advantage of this type of reel is that it is notably cheaper than others. However, it goes without saying that it doesn't look that attractive most of the time. But there are some exceptions, as manufacturers try and make stationary reels look more appealing. 2. Hideaway For small gardens or themed gardens that can't afford to have a reel that stands out like a sore thumb, the hideaway reel is recommended. Small gardens can take advantage of it being stored away when not in use, thereby providing more visual space to the garden's aesthetics. For home owners who can't find a reel that matches their garden's theme, a hideaway can be a great option. 3. Decorative A decorative hose reel is the more logical option for home owners who want to have their reels matches the theme of their garden. However, as mentioned earlier, if there are no options in the local store for a matching reel, a hideaway may be the better option. It ultimately depends on the home owner's sense of taste. 4. Retractable A retractable hose reel is obviously the most convenient one to use. Spring-loaded reels can quickly roll up long garden hoses in a few seconds, something that owners of hand-cranked reels will surely be envious of to some degree. This reel is best for gardens that are frequently watered, for obvious reasons. Convenience is definitely a key strength of this reel and the truth is that it's an amazing option for any type of garden. 5. Hose Reel Cart This is the hose reel that gets the job done for large gardens. Its mobility provides better coverage for a larger landscaped area. Some of the best hose reels in 2017 belong in the cart category and it's no surprise that there are some models that are spring-loaded as well.
