The damage caused by the May 20, 2013, tornado in Oklahoma, is a reminder that businesses should prepare for a disaster -- particularly since the prospect of major hurricanes in 2013 is higher than in most years, according to meteorologists.
After Hurricane Sandy, the insurance company The Hartford surveyed hundreds of businesses and formulated some tips about how businesses should prepare for an emergency. Hurricane Sandy killed 159 people and caused about $50 billion in property damage, according to the National Hurricane Center.
