Keep Your Car Looking New |

There are many ways to cook a chicken, but only a few to clean your car. Follow some of these Carautoinsurancequotes to keep your car’s paint looking fresh and new. 1. Try to wash your car at least once a month. Give your car a thorough rinse first and foremost. Use wet cloths and sponges to clean the outside as dry ones will leave small scratches on the paint as time goes one. 2. For the best possible results, wax the car immediately after its wet wash for protection. Never wash or wax your car after it’s been sitting out in the sun as this makes the paint slightly more malleable and results in streaks and stains. Waxing should be done every three months. 3. Only use cleaning products that are meant for your car. Auto shampoos and polishes are specifically designed for your car to preserve the paint job for as long as possible. Using any other cleaning solutions removes the wax and the oils that come from your car paint that keep it looking bright. 4. Use only non-abrasive polishes and cleaners. Anything harsher will cause the paint to erode and fade, revealing the metal under the paint. Also, don’t use wax based on silicone as the harshness of the silicone will permeate all the layers of paint. Avoid using any polish or rubbing liquids as these will make the paint on your car look washed out. Once the paint on your car has naturally become dull from age, then it is safe to use rubbing compounds as needed. 5. Make sure that any covers you put over your car are light and made of natural fibers. A cover of your car is like a piece of clothing on you and you want to make sure it’s easy to breathe through. While using harder covers such as vinyl or plastic may seem like a good idea as they could better protect against harsh climate conditions, other factors like humidity will trap moisture between the cover and the car causing the body to mold and corrode. On the same token, try to park your car in a garage or the shadiest part of your driveway when possible. Extended exposure to direct sunlight will make the paint fade and also chip away. 6. Remedy scratches and chips sooner rather than later. Ignoring any blemishes to your car will expose your car to oxygen, water and salt debris which will cause rusting and corrosion.
