Last week, I wrote an article about a painting that art experts estimated was worth about $20 million being put up for sale.
It turns out that the painting of Roosevelt Island, which is in the East River between Manhattan and Queens, was sold for $19 million. Christie's, the auction house, would only identify the buyer as a "private American collector," but my investigative reporting work has uncovered the fact that the painter's most valuable painting was bought by comedian Steve Martin.
I'm serious.
