Limitations Face In AR Mobile App Development |

These are some of the limitations that the developers face while creating AR mobile apps. HARDWARE LIMITATIONS The mobile AR creates visual data on the surrounding that are captured by the user’s camera. The smartphone cameras are different and vary from each other in a lot of ways. Most of the smartphones have 2D image capturing ability which is not compatible to create 3D hybrid reality. GPS are also another problem that limits the AR mobile app development as high precision is required with an accuracy of information display. The developers are looking for ways to resolves these issues and create better AR mobile apps. They are trying to enhance the camera performance using 2D QR. There are limited hardware available to utilize AR completely and developers are stuck with possibilities in their mind. The best example of a well-optimized hardware is the compact AR glasses which even after being optimized isn’t big or heavy. The hardware development would take time, but in the near future, it would become easier to develop AR mobile apps than at present.
SOFTWARE LIMITATIONS Just like in the hardware area, there are numerous limitations related to the software as well. Even though solutions have been introduced in the recent past to make the process easier like the Apple AR Kit or the Google ARCore, it cannot be said that these solutions have completely eased the process of Ar mobile app development. The developers need time to adapt to the kits and new devices that are being launched. It limits the developers in creating a single platform AR app or to learn and master a few kits as each kit has different specialties. At present, the developers are not able to develop apps to their full potential due to reasons such as no proper integration of social media with the AR browsers. The developers are stuck in framework and software challenges which would hopefully change in the coming future. LEGAL LIMITATIONS There are many legal issues related to the AR which don’t seem to be making it any easier for the developers. The privacy and safety are the issues limiting the AR mobile app development such as the GDPR regulation. If that wasn’t enough there are copyright and ownership rights issues. At present, there are no frameworks and standards that apply to AR apps, but the landmark or building owners can become a problem wanting the ownership over the information app presents to the users.
