Polyester is a semi-synthetic fabric, often used to make garments like shirts, skirts, and shorts. The material is noted for its resistance to shrinking, however when exposed to extreme temperatures, it can still shrink. The amount of shrinkage depends on the thread count and quality of the fabric.Generally, high-quality polyester fabrics such as those made with 100% polyester will resist shrinking. But, when exposed to temperatures of 90-degrees Celsius for a long period of time, it may still shrink. This is especially true if the fabric is blended with other fabrics, such as cotton or rayon, which are more prone to shrinkage.
