American Bass is a relatively new term in bass guitar playing. Most bass guitarists call their bass either American or European, but technically they are considered a subgroup of Rock Bass. This is not entirely correct because many bass players call their bass a variety of things. Here is a list of the different types of bass in use today.
For many rock bass guitarists and many new anglers in general the name Bob Schill takes root. He is a bassist from Canada and has won every major bass fishing tournament in Canada and Europe. He is not an American but rather a Canadian so this is where most American bass players get their bass names from. Trending products with Best Reviews Tips Schill also takes part in tournaments all over the world and has been described as one of the more technical and creative bassists out there.
Another bass player that comes to mind when you mention American Bass is Ken Camper. He is known as a Texas bass fisherman and has held several titles including being named Texas Bass Player of the Year. Camper was born and raised on a dairy farm in Denton, Texas. His family also raised cows and he would sit by them with his big ears and stare at the cows come through the field one after the other. Later in his life he went into the recording business and has had forty-seven records to his credit.
For those who don't know, the American bass player who won the first ever World Fishing Championship in 1971 is Steve Elkington. In that tournament Elkington's bass boat package included two three-pound bass pots, a six-eight inch sinker and a fluorocarbon lined sinker. According to records this was the largest bass boat package ever assembled by any single angler. The winning bass player was a thirty eight-year-old from Canada, Steveornia.
Bob Schill grew up on a farm in New Mexico. When he was twelve years old he started fishing and soon hooked on to angling and moved on to catching and releasing fish all over the world. In 1980, at the age of twenty-two, Bob Schill moved to Texas to pursue his angling passion. He has since gone on to win multiple world championship tournaments including two in the Bahamas and one in Mexico. In addition to his world championship winning bass boat, Bob has also won fish like Bluegill, Barracuda, Bonito, Croaker and many other species. He has fished in thirty-eight states across the United States.
To beat out the record for the largest bass caught in one day, American Bass entered their trophy fight at the 2021 Bass Tournament of America, which was won by a record twenty-one inch bass. This made it the first tournament ever to feature the largest fish caught in one day. Today the Bass tournament of America is known as the Bass Masters tournament and has been running for fourteen years. This makes it an interesting competition to watch, but not many anglers have the dedication to keep up with the Bass Masters schedule.
In July, the Bass Masters tournament will return to its yearly location in Missoula, MT. This is the same place that happens to host the world's biggest and most prestigious tournament, the World Wide Championships. The Bass Masters tournament allows anglers from across the country the opportunity to compete in the toughest tournament there is. The winner of the tournament not only wins a trophy but also gets to walk away with a name plaque. So now that American anglers are allowed to fish off-limits, they can take their chances catching monsters and setting new records.
So, if you live in or around the state of Missouri and want to try to catch some of this incredible bass, why not consider trying to join the ranks of some of the country's best anglers. If you plan on trying your hand at the Bass Masters tournament, I recommend you do so before the season starts in April. This way you can start to practice and get a feel for what the competition entails. In June, however, the Bass Masters will be back on their regular schedule and the competition should prove even more intense!
