How I Got Started
As a divorce lawyer, I didn't like the way that divorces were being handled. When my own parents divorced, I was terrified that some of the lawyers in town would get a hold of my parents and destroy my family, my privacy, my inheritance, so I helped my own parents divorce. Older and wiser now, I would have sent them to a mediator like me to help them talk things through and get divorced with as little damage to our family and their life savings as possible. My philosophy is that people got married for a reason and built a life together. Just because it is over and it is time to move on does not mean we should destroy what was. I want to help people honor their marriage and their family as they transition gently into their new lives.

Favorite Part Of The Business
Helping people move forward in positive ways. I love it when I can help people get ''unstuck'' and resolve their own problems.
|
Customer Can Expect
It takes three to mediate. I cannot make anyone do what they don't want to do. My role is not to give legal advice or an opinion. My role is to facilitate the communication between the parties so that they can come up with their own resolution. I memorialize the agreements in a settlement agreement and file it with the court for them. I guide them procedurally through the uncontested divorce process, but I don't take sides. My role is to guide and coach the couple through the process as they help themselves. If they need legal, financial or other professional advice, I serve as a resource making referrals to capable professionals so my couples can be fully informed before making any decisions. I email them their unsigned agreements before the signature session so that they have plenty of time to review it with professionals before coming back in to sign.
