1. Rocky - This is one of the greatest movies all-time about fighting your way out of a rut, believing in yourself, how love can inspire, and never quitting. 2. Lars and the Real Girl - This incredible story is a story about love and unconditional acceptance. It is a touching parable about love and how we can create love from nothing. 3. Forest Gump - A spellbinding classic that takes you on a journey through history. A story about breaking through barriers - both physical and emotional. 4. Titanic - 3D - A tremendous movie that recreates the sinking of the Titanic in extraordinary detail. Underlying the story is a beautiful love story and class struggle. Watch this movie in 3D - its incredible. 5. Slumdog Millionaire - One of the greatest movies of all-time and winner of Best Picture - despite being turned down by almost every movie production company and its low budget. This is another amazing love story and a journey through history. It explores chance, coincidence, class, love, and the human condition. 6. Benjamin Button - An incredible journey through time, amazing wardrobes and an incredible storyline of a baby born as an old man who lives his life in reverse. This move also explores chance, coincidence, timing, and destiny. And there is an incredible love story as well. 7. Lincoln - A brillian recreation of a time in American history where slavery was ultimately abolished. Provides amazing insight to the power of a great leader, politics, and the enormous challenges that Lincoln faced so that slavery would aboloished. 8. Saving Private Ryan - Unbelievable recreation of the storming of Normandy, France. Possibly the greatest opening scene of any movie ever made showing the courage and sacrifice of American soldiers determined to take out Hitler. Based on a true story, this movie shows the sacrifice made by soldiers and their families. 9. Life Is Beautiful - This movies shows the love of a father for his son. Taking place during Nazi Germany, it poignantly demonstrates the love and sacrifice a parent will make for his child. It also demonstrates the sharp contrast between freedom and a totalitarian regime from the first part of the movie to the second reminding us to protect our freedom. 10. The Merry Gentleman - This is a super suspenseful movie about a hitman and a woman. It is a great story about love and chance encounter. It will keep your attention from start to finish. I had to have a movie on this list that wasn't really well known so this is that selection! 11. Crimes and Misdemeanors - I also had to have a Woody Allen movie on this list. This is a classic suspense movie that explores the dark side of people and secrets we can try to hide but how at the end, truth often prevails. It's incredibly suspenseful and a classic.
