Disposable food packaging constitutes the use of items that have been made from disposable material to pack and deliver food at restaurants, hotels, kiosks and takeaways. The disposable food packaging material typically used in the industry include bowls, plates, cups, trays, forks, spoons and others utensils. It is also very convenient for the consumers. They can carry it around easily. A consumer can wash and reuse the plastic containers to store leftovers. Some companies manufacture disposable food packaging that are microwave safe as well. So, the consumer can re-heat the food as and when they wish to consume it. Apart from ensuring proper sanitation and prevention of food contamination and food borne diseases, the use of disposable food packaging also brings down the need for additional labor and equipment for the food service provider. It will also help save the energy and water that will otherwise be consumed by dishwashers in large quantities to clean and sanitize utensils. It will also eliminate the need to replace broken or damaged reusable food packaging. Thus, use of disposable food packaging is beneficial for both consumers and providers of food services.
