Eliminating Flies That Invade the Home |

There isn't a doubt that since time immemorial, people have been wary of flies. The potential diseases carried by these tiny pests are not something to scoff at. Their natural life cycle and lifestyle make them some sort of magnets to harmful bacteria and even viruses. The preference of flies to stick to carcasses for food and propagation is more than enough reason to keep them out of the household and by all means eliminate any that make it inside. Some people may forget the disgusting nature of flies just because they haven't seen it land on carcasses or fecal matter prior to landing on their faces.
Interestingly, more people hate flies for the wrong reason, which is because of their buzzing sound when flying nearby. This reason somewhat downplays the importance of eliminating them. Consequently, there becomes a less sense of urgency to eliminate them or keep them away. One way that people deal with these pesky invaders is use of strong insecticides, applied through aerosol sprays. Most of these insecticides are effective, but there are some that claim to kill cockroaches, mosquitoes and flies but in reality, is only effective at killing ants. One problem with using aerosol spray insecticides is that any fly that survives the initial application will have built a resistance for the active ingredient of the insecticide. Subsequent application will then give them immunity, which is something that they then pass on to their offspring. On top of that, there is also the danger of inhalation of harsh chemicals from constant application of the pesticides. Some manufacturers will claim that the active ingredients in their products are too minuscule to matter, but long term effects are still looking bad in terms of health and well-being. Another way to deal with flies is the use of fly papers. There are quite a lot of fly papers available, with two types being the most apparent options. One type of fly paper uses poison to eliminate flies that go near it. This is heavily regulated to make sure that the exposure of humans to the poison is minimal and will not affect their health. Still, responsible use of these products is advised. The second type of fly paper is more preferable because instead of poison, it has an adhesive that would trap flies in it, eventually killing them. It may still contain some poison which is expected with adhesives. It's important to learn more about the chemical content before buying one. One way to drastically reduce the number of flies that get into the home is using fly screen doors. There are quite a lot of options for meshes and chain links that can be installed. Having a fly screen door is essential for back entrances where flies are quite common. It's highly recommended to buy them online because there are websites that offer custom measurements. Having this feature makes it ideal because home owners can easily order chain links and screens for their windows and bedroom doors. Having chain link in bedroom doors make it less likely for flies to go here and simply be isolated in the common area.
