Lauren Brooke is the author of Heartland series intended to teens who are horse lovers. Her novels analyzes a variety of emotions, including agony, loss, and pain. Heartland is an enlightening story that will capture the hearts of any horse lover, particulary the teens. This story teaches the meaning of friendship between animals and that humans should always trust one another. The Heartland books, interestingly introduces the main characters, mom Marion and her her 15 year old daughter, Amy. Amy losses her mother in a terrible accident while saving a horse. Amy continues her late mother's work, Heartland, a farm in Virginia, abused or neglected horses are healed by her mother-a talented and gifted horse trainer by training horses using psychology and herbal medicines. Lou, Amy’s elder sister, had to leave her job in New York and come back to Heartland to help, but her views are different from that of Amy’s. Titles in this Set 1. Coming Home The Heartland is a farm in Virginia, which deals the abused or neglected horses are healed by Amy’s mother. The main character, Amy, overcomes many personal struggles like the loss of her mother in a car accident and her fear of losing the farm she loves. She also struggles with the relationship she has with her practical older sister, Lou, who shows up after the funeral to get the affairs of the farm in order. 2. After the Storm Amy Fleming saves a lost horse in this book. But when they find the owner, the owner says he can't breed him anymore so he doesn't want Spartan anymore, so Spartan stays at Heartland. And for Spartan, Amy is a reminder of the crash as well no matter what attempts she makes, Spartan is vicious toward her. At the very sight of her he lashes out, rearing defiantly and baring his teeth. Faulting herself, Amy feels she can't blame Spartan for hating her. Then she realizes Spartan will never forgive her until she forgives herself. 3. Breaking Free In this book, a good friend of her mom dies and leaves a pony with no owner.
