The Warlock of Firetop Mountain The first book in this series is Warlock of Firetop Mountain; this book is an adventure where your character is given the mission of entering the underground lair of a mad sorcerer and killing him to save the people of the surrounding land. Now, the evil wizard character lives in a huge mountain at the middle of a maze complex, surrounded by guards and creatures. It’s a dungeon and of course it has a dragon and we all love dragons. 2. The Citadel of Chaos The Citadel of Chaos plotline is pretty thin; it's just you, a known adventurer bravely heading into the castle of Balthus Dire, one of the three nasty Necromancers. The tension builds nicely as you make your way towards the keep itself in the darkness and you can actually convene with some of the guys outside, even if they're mistrustful. All sorts of strange things happen in it, and you meet some weird animals. 3. Deathtrap Dungeon The Deathtrap Dungeon gamebook is based around a challenge that is held every year when a group of adventurers sign up to attempt to complete a challenge known as the Trial of Champions. Simply put, either you win or you die, and to be honest, before you come along, nobody has won, which means that everybody has died. To make matters worse, only one person can leave the dungeon as a champion, and obviously you want to be that person. 4. Stormslayer After years of peace, the kingdom of Femphrey is at war again - only this time it is with the elements! Devastating storms sweep across the country, destroying all in their path. Blizzards and floods threaten some areas while others suffer the worst droughts seen in centuries. But is this climate chaos all it appears to be? Or is there some dark design to this meteorological meltdown? You are a seasoned adventurer, known throughout the land. You have battled giants and slain dragons, but how can even a veteran warrior like yourself fight the weather? Are you ready to take up the challenge and face the perils that await you within the eye of the storm? 5. Creature of Havoc Creature of Havoc is seen by some as the best Fighting Fantasy gamebook around. The plot is very unique, there's a huge number of sudden-death endings and many, many places where everywhere you go is an instant death. You are not likely to die in combat as your creature takes half damage as usual and you have a chance to kill your enemy instantly, but wherever you go, you will end up dying with a sudden death! 6. City of Thieves In City of Thieves, the player mission is to find the necessary materials to defeat an evil sorcerer who is terrorizing a town. In order to do this, however, player must navigate the dreaded Port Blacksand, a place in which humans and demi-humans thrive on crime, piracy and exploitation. There are several paths through Port Blacksand, and as the player have to play and re-play the book, player will meet many charming and bizarre creatures, some of which will help player, others annoy, and many attack you either frontally or with stealth. 7. BloodBones Bloodbones lives! Cinnabar, evil Pirate-Lord and scourge of the twelve seas, is back from the dead, seeking revenge and with the dark powers of voodoo at his command. Only player can stop the pirate captain and his crew of bloodthirsty cut-throats. Prepare to set sail on the adventure of a lifetime. 8. Night Necromancer Death is not the end...You are a knightly warrior, returning to your ancestral castle having been away for a number of years fighting a crusade against the forces of darkness in the Mauristatian principality of Bathoria. You are just within sight of home when you are struck down by a band of murderers. Driven by the need to know why you have been killed, and on whose orders, you rise again as a ghost. This is where your adventure begins, as you set out to solve the mystery of your own murder. All that follows occurs during the course of one night. 9. House of Hell This book is actually quite tricky, and like a number of other books, if you make the wrong decision it can prevent you from completing the adventure, though you will not know that until much further in. Further, there are a couple of rooms that if you enter there is basically no way to escape. The house is quite small, and also quite mappable, though the trick with the book is that the house is inhabited and you cannot alert anybody to your presence. You also start of with no weapons, meaning that you have to find something to defend yourself with while exploring the house. 10. Eye of the Dragon In a tavern in Fang, a mysterious stranger offers player the chance to find the Golden Dragon, perhaps the most valuable treasure in all Allansia. But it is hidden in a labryinth beneath Darkwood Forest and is guarded by the most violent creatures and deadly traps.
