We would all agree on the elements that make up the absolute bare necessities of life: water, food, shelter; these three things remain the same regardless of culture, class, and gender. But widen the definition of ‘necessities’ to address the First World modern life, and suddenly the components for everyday living become wildly varied. According to the statistics billed on the Pod Academy website, most of us nowadays wouldn’t hesitate to include a washing machine (82%) or a computer (70%), but the one modern necessity that people remain divided upon is the car.
As Pod Academy states, a ‘car is the norm – 74% of us have one – but only 56% of people think a car is a necessity’. On a sliding scale of what is regarded as the minimum standard of living, some may regard the car as a materialistic good – yet many of us who see ‘activities relating to social obligations [to] rank highly’ know that independent travel may factor hugely into such matters. Those without a car may fear the heavy cost of upkeep for repairs, petrol, and of course, that initial purchase, all of which prevent them from stepping forward and making that purchase. After all, commuting within a city is generally cheaper and saves you the trouble of having to find parking, let alone the green benefits that one reaps. For those not lucky enough to reach the public transport systems as easily though, it might be worth it to take the plunge and commit to a car.
For most of us, we already have our hands full supplying our basic necessities to ourselves anyway: paying our monthly rent or mortgage, buying enough food to feed our family, and yes, paying our bills (water or otherwise) to make the roof over our head habitable. We won’t have enough resources pooled at our feet to make the purchase for the car in whole, and will need a financial institution to bridge that crucial gap between us and the car that we need.
A number of options are available to us at this point, varying from an extremely generous relative or friend (sadly, very rare), or a loan from a bank, or even car credit providers such as www.carmaxfinance.co.uk. The only obstacles that may lie in place are the rarity of such sources (in the case of the wealthy parents/friends) or a bad credit background – which would then bar you from the desired loan. Made up of payments from your mortgage, bills, and even mobiles, your credit rating is judged on your reliability to repay such charges on time. CarMax Finance however overlooks such factors, taking a sympathetic view to such holders of poor credit history and work closely with their lenders to get you that funding. With an appropriate payment plan, the necessities of modern life are not limited and outside of your reach.
